EAL

White Hills Primary School have a group of passionate educators to support students who have English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Rachel Swinnerton co-ordinates the WHPS EAL program. The program includes many students with a Karen background, as well as students from other non-English speaking background. Rachel supports both the EAL students and their teachers.

Paw Gay and Htoo Bo are Karen support staff. They support students from a Karen background within the classroom as well as in focus groups. Htoo Bo is a qualified interpreters and is able to provide translation support for notes and events. Both Paw Gay and Htoo Bo provide a valuable link between WHPS and our Karen families.
