Chinese culture and Mandarin language program
At WHPS, student learn Chinese in Grades 1-6. Students learn about Chinese culture and cultural understanding. They learn about Chinese celebrations like the Lantern Festival and compare it to Australian culture and celebrations. Some of the topics they cover during lessons includes: learning vocabulary on topics such as numbers, councting in Chinese, family members and pronouns, the origin of the Chinese zodiac and the legend of the monster Nian. Our students have been learning how to write common Chinese characters. |
Overseas Learning Experience
Each year WHPS participates in an overseas learning experience. They visit Beijing, Shanghai, and Suzhou for an experience of a life time! The students attend school at Jinji Lake School, our Sister School, which is situated in the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP). Special Guests
Prep students brought in some special guests with her. Xinling’s mum and dad, Mr Liangpei Li and Ms Hui Hui, came in to teach the Prep students about some Chinese traditions, clothing and most importantly dumplings.
