Transition to School

We invite you to visit our school during our Education Week Open Day on Tuesday, 21st May and see what White Hills Primary School can offer you and your child.  Information sessions for new families will be held on this day.

Important Transition Dates 2013

 

Getting Ready for School Nights

 

During Terms 3 and 4 the Prep teachers will be visiting Pre-schools and Childcare Centres to meet all children enrolled at our school in their early learning environment. This enables your child to become familiar with a teacher from our school in their pre-school environment before formal transition begins. To assist teachers in organising visits we ask that children are enrolled by the end of June 2013. This is the date promoted by Government, Catholic and Independent schools.

 

Important Information

 

1. Visit the school on Open Day - Tuesday, 21st May

Information sessions for new families will be held on this day.  See the link above for further details.

 

2. Enrol by 30th June, 2013

An enrolment pack is available from the school office.  Ring the school on 54430799 to arrange collection.  Guarantee your child's place by enrolling before 30th June, 2013. 

 

3. Getting Ready for School Nights

These sessions will help you prepare your child for school.  The evenings are activity orientated and you will be provided with a 'grab bag' of language, maths and social skills activities to use at home.  Child care is provided.   

Tuesday, 23rd July, 7-8pm - Maths & Social activities.

Tuesday, 30th July, 7-8pm - Language activities.

4. Familiarisation Days

These small group visits will be held on 15th & 17th October and 12th & 14th November from 9:45-11:45am. Further information will be sent to enrolled children well in advance to enable parents to organise their child's attendance on one of these days in October and one in November.

 

5. Orientation Day

This day will be held on the morning of Tuesday, 3rd December from 10.30am-1.30pm. Children enrolled at White Hills Primary School will spend time in the classrooms and playground. Parents are invited to attend an Information Session in the school hall from l2.00 noon to 1.30pm.
